Eligibility & Requirements

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for nomination, candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a Luminus Financial member for a minimum of six (6) months by the end of the nomination period.
  • Hold the minimum Membership Share requirement.
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Not have served more than eight (8) consecutive terms on the Board.
  • Not be in conflict due to employment or direct competition with Luminus Financial.
  • Not be an undischarged bankrupt or financially delinquent with the credit union.
  • Not have been convicted of a fraud-related or financial crime in the past five (5) years.

What Does a Director Do?

Luminus Financial Board Members play a crucial role in:

  • Overseeing enterprise risk management.
  • Establishing corporate objectives and policies.
  • Reviewing financial statements and performance indicators.
  • Participating in Board meetings, committees, and strategic planning.

Application Process

How to Apply

  1. Obtain a Nominator – Your nominator must be a Luminus Financial member for at least six (6) months.
  2. Complete the Online Application Form – Provide your contact information, background details, and statement of interest.
  3. Upload Required Documents:
    • Resume
    • Statement of Interest (500-word max)
    • Competency Self-Assessment
    • Economic Interest Declaration
  4. Submit the Application by February 24, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. to [email protected].

Selection & Election Process

How Are Candidates Selected?

The Nominations Committee will review applications based on:

  • Financial expertise (ability to analyze financial statements)
  • Leadership & governance experience
  • Strategic planning & risk management knowledge
  • Commitment to credit union principles

Election Process

  1. March 6, 2025 – The Committee finalizes candidate selection.
  2.  April 3, 2025 – New members announced at the AGM.

Note to Members: We had three positions available which have been filled by three nominees which will be acclaimed to the board at our AGM.

Can I campaign for my nomination?

No, campaigning is not permitted by the Board. Candidate profiles will be presented to the membership by Luminus Financial.

Do I need financial expertise to apply?

While financial literacy is valuable, training is provided to help Directors understand financial statements and governance responsibilities.

How long is a Board term?

Each Director serves a three-year term, with a maximum of eight consecutive terms.
